  72.          are copyrighted. They cannot be disassembled or modified 
  73.          without our express written consent.

  75.          MindReader is distributed on a ShareWare basis. You may use
  76.          MindReader without charge for the purposes of evaluating
  77.          its suitability for your use. We suggest that this
  78.          evaluation period be limited to 30 days of actual use. If
  79.          you find that MindReader is worth continuing to use, then
  80.          you are required to pay for it. We call the payment a
  81.          "Registration Fee". Simply complete the registration form
  82.          and mail it with your payment. If your company requires an
  83.          invoice, we suggest that you use a copy of this registration
  84.          as the pro forma invoice. When you register your copy of
  85.          MindReader, you'll receive the latest version of the
  86.          program, along with a comprehensive printed user manual and
  87.          free unlimited technical support for one year. We
  88.          aggressively develop our products, and as a registered user
  89.          you'll be entitled to upgrades to the newest versions as
  90.          they are released, at a greatly reduced price. Most
  91.          importantly though, by registering your copy of MindReader
  92.          (or any ShareWare product), you'll ensure the survival of
  93.          convenient and risk free distribution method that brought
  94.          you MindReader in the first place.

  96.          If you have received this copy from a Users' Group,      
  97.          "Software Library" or "SIG", and have paid a small fee   
  98.          (usually $3 to $10), you have NOT acquired the registered
  99.          rights or the continued right to use MindReader. This fee
  100.          was for the convenience of obtaining the diskette with   
  101.          MindReader on it. The fee does NOT apply to the registration
  102.          fee. If you have obtained a "ShareWare" copy of MindReader
  103.          from Brown Bag Software, and have paid a small fee, this fee
  104.          IS applicable towards registration if you register your copy
  105.          within 90 days.

  107.          If you don't know whether your copy of MindReader is
  108.          registered or not, then look for an original diskette with a
  109.          printed Brown Bag Software diskette label. If in doubt, just
  110.          call us or write us. As of March 1988, Brown Bag Software
  111.          has offices in London, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Cologne and
  112.          Zurich. Our products and local technical support are
  113.          available locally in these cities, payable in local currency
  114.          and shipped from within the EEC without duty. If this
  115.          version of MindReader does NOT support the European
  116.          keyboard, then you will receive a version that DOES support
  117.          the keyboard WHEN YOU REGISTER.

  120.          ShareWare concept, without charge.

  138.                        GETTING STARTED WITH MINDREADER
  139.  
  140.          MindReader is a Powerful Text editor with Address Book,
  141.          Glossary and Calculator. MindReader is unique in that it
  142.          uses a patented artificial intelligence-based engine to
  143.          learn the way you write and who you write to. The more you
  144.          use MindReader, the smarter it will get. MindReader suggests
  145.          words and phrases as you type. Even before a word is
  146.          actually completed. The idea was to enable busy
  147.          professionals, to create or modify a document and produce
  148.          final copy without having to use a secretary. MindReader has
  149.          facilities for creating standard letter and memoranda
  150.          formats, storing text that is repeatedly used and providing
  151.          the user with a handy way to avoid the frustrations of a
  152.          screen littered with typographical errors, misspelled words
  153.          and runaway sentences.

  155.          WHAT YOU NEED (Hardware Requirements)
  156.  
  157.          To use MindReader, you will need an IBM PC, XT or AT with
  158.          at least 256K System (Main) memory and DOS 2.0 or later.
  159.          MindReader will run on a floppy disk system or a hard disk
  160.          system. Please do NOT use MindReader on a Local Area Network
  161.          ("LAN") without a Network License from Brown Bag Software.
  162.          (All Licenses are issued by Brown Bag Software ONLY). For
  163.          more information, contact the nearest Brown Bag Software
  164.          Office (see 1st page of this manual). Please note that with
  165.          a single 5 1/4" floppy disk system, you'll have very little
  166.          room left for your documents. A single 3.5" diskette will
  167.          give you more space for your documents. MindReader works
  168.          with Monochrome Displays, RGB Monitors, Color Graphics
  169.          Adapter ("CGA"), Enhanced Graphics Adapter ("EGA"), VGA
  170.          Adapters and Displays, LCD Displays and Plasma Displays.

  172.          QUICK STARTING MINDREADER
  173.  
  174.          1. Make a back-up of the MindReader Master Diskette and then
  175.          put your Master Diskette in a safe place. Do all work from
  176.          your "working copy".
  177.          2. If you have a hard disk, make a directory for MindReader.
  178.          Let's call this directory "MR", but you can choose any DOS-
  179.          acceptable name. Copy the MindReader working diskette to the
  180.          sub-directory that you've created for MindReader. Then log
  181.          into the MindReader directory.
  182.          3. If you have a floppy disk based system, put your working
  183.          disk in drive A:.

  199.          At the DOS prompt type:

  203.          Read the Shareware screens at least once. After you have read
  204.          them, you can use the Spacebar to move past them. When the
  205.          short Menu appears with options to Begin or Load or Exit,
  206.          select B for Begin new document.

  208.          CHOOSING OPTIONS
  209.  
  210.          We suggest that you first select the video display type that
  211.          corresponds to what you're using and select the colors that
  212.          are most satisfying to you. Press the ALT key and the S key
  213.          at the same time. The Setup Menu will appear. From now on
  214.          we'll refer to this key sequence as ALT+S.
  215.          Select the video display type and Predefined colors either
  216.          by pressing the letter in bold or using the up and down
  217.          arrows. You can even customize MindReader EXACTLY to your
  218.          color preferences with the Define User Colors option.
  219.          We also suggest that you now select the MindReader Hot Key.
  220.          The Hot Key is the key that is used to select what
  221.          MindReader thinks is the most appropriate word or phrase to
  222.          insert. This program comes configured to use the (;) key as
  223.          the Hot Key. This key was chosen because it's easily
  224.          accessible from the standard typing pos
